Huge blast back to ‘Kevin De Bruyne’ as ‘Mikel Arteta’ sends blunt response to the City star after Player said Arsenal superstar had nothing to offer at Emirate
As you may have heard, it looks like Oleksandr Zinchenko is on his way to Arsenal from Manchester City.
Fabrizio Romano believes the Gunners have agreed a £30m deal with the Citizens, and the Ukraine international will now discuss personal terms with the north Londoners.
If all goes well, Mikel Arteta will land himself a four-time Premier League winner, who is capable of playing at left-back as well as in midfield.
Well, according to Kyle Walker, Arsenal are about to sign a player with better technical ability than Kevin De Bruyne.
Speaking to Michael Timbs, the £50m defender admitted that Zinchenko outdoes the Belgium international, as well as Phil Foden and Joao Cancelo, when it comes to technique.
Walker said: “Not in any order, my top three are Zinchenko, Mahrez & Silva. Two touches, head tennis, incredible, so so good. You’re leaving De Bruyne out, Foden, Cancelo, but they don’t come close to those three.”
Now, that is quite the statement, to say the very least.
It’s obvious that Zinchenko is a quality player, although we never had any idea that he’s operating at a level beyond De Bruyne behind the scenes at the Etihad Stadium.
If Walker’s revelation doesn’t fill Arsenal fans with excitement as the Ukrainian nears a move to north London, we’re not sure what will.
In our view, Zinchenko could very easily become the best player at the Emirates Stadium.
Not only can he play at left-back as well as in the centre of midfield, but he is also capable of operating as an attacking midfielder, like he did in his days at FK Ufa and PSV Eindhoven.
That gives Arteta an incredible amount of flexibility, as he will soon have a player who can cover a number of areas, and to an extremely high standard as well.
In our view, Pep Guardiola has somewhat held Zinchenko back at Manchester City, as others are often preferred in the starting XI – for example, he only made ten Premier League starts last season.
With an enhanced role under Arteta, we believe the 25-year-old will shine at Arsenal.
